Here are a few causes of dark skin around the lips and solutions to get rid of it :
1. Not washing your face after eating, specially oily food.
I told ya, your gonna laugh. I wasn’t joking .
Most young women do not have the habit of washing their face or at least the area around the lips after eating. What happens is, when you eat, oil particles get absorbed in the skin around your lips. Slowly this absorption causes the development of bacteria which eventually leads to skin darkening.
Solution : Wash your lips and area around it, properly with a mild soap after eating. If you are in a place where this may not be possible, keep antiseptic moist tissues and make sure to use it after eating.
2. Exposure to sun for long hours.
The skin around the lips is the most sensitive as compared to the skin on the rest of your face which is why the effects of the UV rays become visible around the lip area first.
Solution : Use a good branded sunscreen and make sure to use ample of it whenever you go out.
3. Dehydration of skin.
Dehydration is one major cause of all skin problems. Dehydrated skin eventually turns your skin dead and when you have dead skin on your face, the area starts looking darker.
Solution : Drink lots of water. If your skin is dry then Rescue Your Dry Skin – Re-hydrate It.You may also want to read Magical Healing Powers & Cures Of Vaseline Aka Petroleum Jelly.
4. Dead skin due to improper nutrition.
Now you may start wondering why nutrition has to come in the way of beauty but a healthy body system will have healthy skin. When your body lacks proper nutrition, it fails to give the required nutrition to the skin turning your skin dead.
Solution : Go green. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Avoid eating oily stuff and treat your body with enough proteins, vitamins and calcium because your body and your skin need them.
5. Not taking proper skin care.
Sleeping with makeup on, pollution, dust, smoke etc all build toxins on your skin. These toxins gradually form a layer on your skin that blocks your skin from breathing. When your skin is not able to breathe it does not get its oxygen that it survives on. This is also one of the many simple reasons of discoloration of skin because some parts of the skin are getting oxygen while some are not.
Solution : Wash your face as frequently as possible with fresh water and sometimes with a mild soap. You don’t want to wash it every hour with a soap. That’s not healthy. Exfoliate with a mild daily face wash to get the toxins out of your skin while not damaging the skin tissues.
