The pink haired singing sensation, Katy Perry, has been named the ‘Artist of the Year’ by MTV.
“The One That Got Away” singer was given this accolade primarily for having five number one songs and six top five hits continuously on the Billboard Top 100 around the year of 2011. These records were set by the legendary Michael Jackson as well.
Katy Perry told MTV News: “To be Artist of the Year, a whole 365 days, that’s pretty cool. I wasn’t really allowed to watch MTV growing up, so this feels really validating. I’ve had a fantastic year, a great tour and a great run, and you guys have been so a part of it and such a big reason why. I really appreciate it.”
The 27-year-old beauty has also been going around her famous 124-date California Dreams tour which was launched in January 2011 and her fans have seen her perform around the world in five different continents.
