The famed and flamboyant Bollywood star, Dev Anand, was a Indian Film legend who was known for his charisma for more than a decade. But the legendary star left a million hearts with sadness as he died due to heart attack in London at the age of 88.
The world of Film and Entertainment lost another precious jewel from its crown that can never be replaced. Dev Anand was a revolutionary story worth telling. He was a role model for the young and old. Famous for his work in movies like “Jewel Thief” and “Guide,” the wonderful actor, director and producer worked round the clock up till his last moment. He was working on a new script as the angels took him away from us.
His nephew and famous film director, Shekhar Kapur, had only beautiful words to say about his uncle. “Anand lived and died on his own terms,” he posted on Twitter. “He was working one minute. Sat down and smiled. And was gone the next. So much to learn.” The Bollywood legend died of a heart attack the night of this Saturday. He was in a hotel in London where he was being given a medical checkup. The family told the media today.
Many film stars, young and old, got together to remember this great legend and humble person. India’s Prime Minister also expressed his deep sorrow for this loss:
“Dev Anand was a great artist who entertained generations of cinema lovers over five decades. He was an embodiment of long passion for acting and filmmaking. I join millions of his fans in mourning his death.”
Born on Sept. 26, 1923, Anand was considered a handsome superstar who won millions of hearts with his 1946 screen debut in a Hindi film “Hum Ek Hain.” He also began producing his directorial debut and released the popular hippie cult film “Hare Rama Hare Krishna” in 1971.
He never let go of his fans with his film last year “Chargesheet.” He was working nowadays on another script as he had told the media a month back that “he still had more to offer.”
In his last interview in September on his last birthday, he told the press: “My life is the same, and I am at a beautiful stage at 88. I am as excited as I was in my 20s. I have so many things to do.”
We give our prayers to this never-dying person as he will remain alive forever in our hearts and his films. God Bless Him and His Family!!
