Oscars 2011: Best And Worst Dressed At The Red Carpet

The rules of the Red Carpet have completely changed. Gone are the days when celebrities chose ball gowns to wear at such an auspicious moment, now celebrities choose sleeker silhouettes. Their style statements are impressing on us that “less is more”.

The strategic embellishments have replaced the old sparkle and shine designs. At the Oscars this year what we saw on the Red Carpet was very in tune with what we see on runways nowadays, especially in terms of Color. There were bright, Bold dresses everywhere and literally there were hardly any neutral colored dresses to be seen.

The surprise shade of the evening was Red with Celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock and Selena Gomez flaunting it on the Red Carpet.

This year the Oscars were a very regal and an audacious affair with Nudes, Bold Reds and Neon Colors ruling the Red Carpet. The Bold and sparkling shapely gowns were all the rage in the Oscars of 2011. Let’s see what Colors and shapes ruled the Red Carpet at 2011 Oscars.

Natalie Portman, Black Swan’s star, showed off her baby bump with a deep purple, off-the-shoulder, floor length gown sequined with embellishments by Rodarte. She accessorized her mommy glow with fringe-drop Tiffany earrings and satin sandals by Jimmy Choo. The Red Carpet “show-stopper” won the Best Actress Award for her “Black Swan” performance.

Anne Hathaway, first time Oscar co-host, looked Red Hot and epitome of glamour at the Red Carpet in a Bold Red, strapless Valentino gown with matching lip Color and an elegant low bun. This fiery, vintage gown was the first of many outfit changes to come for Hathaway that evening.

Mila Kunis, of “Black Swan”, looked like a Prima Donna in a romantic flowing, chiffon and lace Elie Saab Haute Couture Gown accessorized with gorgeous Neil Lane jewels. She looked stunning in Lavender.

Halle Berry looked ravishing in this Nude, crystal encrusted, frothy Marchesa gown with a ruffled silk tulle train. This Red Carpet Beauty proved she is a Fashion Goddess.

Sandra Bullock, another Red Hot celebrity on the Oscars 2011, struck the Red Carpet with this gorgeous Vera Wang gown accessorized with diamonds by Harry Winston.

Jennifer Hudson flaunted her knockout figure in this low-cut, va-va-voom orange colored Versace gown. She turned heads with her newly slimmed and toned curvaceous figure.

India’s very own Ashwariya Rai walked the Red Carpet at Oscars 2011 in a Giorgio Armani bronze colored Prive gown. She turned heads by pairing it with Jimmy Choo and a Lana clutch. She looked the Asian Goddess at the Red Carpet.

The ever stunning Cate Blanchett wowed everyone with this bejeweled, lavender Givenchy Couture dress which she complemented with jewellery from Van Cleef and Arpels vintage collection.

Hilary Swank, 2 times Oscar winner and now presentor, graced the Red Carpet of Oscars 2011 in a feathered grey Gucci Premiere gown accessorized with Gucci heels and stunning jewels by Anna Hu.

Mandy Moore floated the Red Carpet in this ethereal nude Monique Lhuillier gown. Stunning jewels from Chopard with Ruby colored lip color completed this fairytale ensemble.

Another Red Bombshell at the Oscars 2011, Jennifer Lawrence flaunted her Hot bod in a Bold Calvin Klein gown. Accessorized with Chopard jewels and a voluminous down hairdo she took her place as the Hollywood Bombshell.

Amy Adams drew praise from Oscars fashion experts with her deep blue figure-hugging L’Wren Scott dress on the Red Carpet. She went loud and bold with $1.35 million worth accessories from Cartier jewels.

Celine Dion flaunted her post-twin babies bod at the Red Carpet in this dashing, long-sleeved Giorgio Armani Prive gown paired with Van Cleef and Arpels jewellery. Fashion experts at the Oscars termed her as the “Silver-Stunner”.

 Gwyneth Paltrow, former Oscar winner, awed the Red Carpet in this shining champagne colored Calvin Klein gown with a striking one-sided long slit.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber turned up holding hands. Gomez wore a gorgeous Red Dolce and Gabbana gown accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and an eye-catching Judith Leiber clutch. She was the second celebrity to flaunt her Reds out on the Red Carpet. Alongside her, Justin Bieber was suited up in Dolce and Gabbana with cool bracelets by BaubleBar.

Hot mama, Penelope Cruz, looked impossibly fabulous in this beautifully sequined L’Wren Scott gown. She coupled this purple sequined ensemble with jewellery from Chopard.

Although many applauded Nicole Kidman for her bold choice with this Origami inspired, Dior Couture dress, some fashion experts went all out by asking her to fall down the “Rabbit Hole” with this choice. Anyways, her 150 carats of Fred Leighton jewellery simply caught the evening’s eye.

Although her hairdo wasn’t much liked by the fashion experts, Reese Witherspoon exuded all out elegance in her classic black and white Giorgio Armani Prive gown. The evening’s presenter looked like a Classy Act in her stunning ensemble.

With minimal make-up, Camila Alves looked like a vision in black on the Red Carpet in Oscars 2011 in this low v-neck, Kaufman Franco dress. With hair parted in the middle and with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery Alves looked a ravishing feast for the eyes.

Dame Helen Mirren won outstanding reviews from fashion experts in this gun metal Vivienne Westwood gown on the Red Carpet. Complemented with Cartier diamonds she was the second “Silver stunner” on the Red Carpet.

Coming to couples, Donald and Melanie Trump did their strut at the Red Carpet in corresponding outfits. Rhea Durham and Mark Wahlberg also made a cute couple at the Red Carpet in 2011 Oscars.
