Find Real Answer To Your Question – “Can I Use Epilator On My Face?”

Woman's Lips

First we began with the basic question that revolved around every women’s mind, Are Epilators Worth Your Investment? Then we showed you How To Get Best Results From Epilators because most of the times it’s not the product’s fault, it’s how you can use a little tip n trick to make your way to the better.

After having talked about epilators, there was still one question that was being asked and not answered properly.

To be honest, when I set my foot to research a little on the internet about what people wanted to know about using epilators on the face, the answers came from most people who had never tried it and recommended that it never be tried.

Most internet answers will tell you that you should “NOT” use epilators on the face because it hurts like hell, it’s not safe and that it would give disastrous results such as rashes, patches or cuts and some will also say that will increase ingrown hair or make your facial hair more thicker.

Today we are going to talk about this question in detail.

Can You Use Epilators On Your Face?

Yes, you can use epilators on your face but it depends on various few factors.

a. Your epilator must be skin friendly.

Now what the hell do we mean by that? You see there are many brands of epilators going around in the market. Each has got different metal plates on the heads.

These metal plates decide weather you can use them on face or not. If the metal plates are leveled in, they are perfectly safe. But if they are leveled above or separate then they may cut your face. Here is the image showing you the difference :

Can I Use Epilator On Face?

 b. Your skin must be tolerant to facial hair removing stuff .

If you have been waxing, threading or tweezing your facial hair and having no skin problems such as rashes, burns or patches then your skin is pretty much tolerant to pains and hair removing. Thus it is safe for you to use epilator.

But if you are going to try epilating your face for the first time, use the epilator on a very small section of your face and wait till a few hours to see the reaction. If your skin looks fine you are good to go.

c. Your facial hair type.

If your facial hair are very thick or longer than normal then I highly recommend that you do not use epilator as it definitely will hurt hell a lot. Try taking a few threading or waxing sessions and then when your facial hair are still thin and small, you can use epilator.

You can use epilator on your face soon as your facial hair are the length that get easily grabbed by your epilator. It is easy and painless at this stage. If the hair length increases, it gets difficult and painful.

So there you go.

You can use epilators on your face.

If you are still not sure if your epilator is the right epilator for your face, throw us a comment, a link to your epilator image perhaps and we will let you know if it’s safe to use.

Any queries regarding facial epilating, feel free to ask.

Excellent post. I’m impressed! I was confused about using epilator on the face for a long time and did not find much satisfying answers on the web. Your right when you said people recommend not to do it without even having tried it. Extremely helpful info. Thanx a lot

Hey. This page proved to be really helpful. Atleast now I know what im supposed to check while buying an epilator. I just had these small questions in mind, if you could answer them. Firstly, i wanted to know if using an epilator on the face results in darker, thicker, more rough hairs? Secondly, i have seen it written on many pages that it results in problems such as ingrowths etc. Actually, i have been using waxing and threading for the past two to three years now.. Will epilation still result in ingrowths and skin bumps etc? P.S. i have never faced any such sensitivity reactions on my face when i was waxing and threading.

      1. Epilators actually pluck the hair out, it’s like waxing so it won’t result in thicker hair. Infact the regrowth will be slow and thin.
      2. It may cause ingrowth hair but if you are using gentle exfoliating daily face wash it shouldn’t be a problem at all. If not, use gentle face scrub once a week.
      3. Skin bumps occur only when epilator is not used in the correct direction or is left in one place instead of moving forward.

If you are using epilator for the first time, try your hands first so you know how it works and when using on the face, try for a smaller area first.

    Hi,

I own a body epilator and I wanted to know if it’s okay for me to use that on my face.

I used an eyebrow razor to razor my side burns a month ago and now I feel like they are thicker and I need to remove them again, only I’m not sure how to go about this without causing any permanent or sustained damage to my face.

It depends on what kind of epilator you have. If you can tell me the make & model, I could tell you if it’s face friendly or not. As far as the concern for thicker hair regrowth is, the hair actually starts thinning out with more use of epilator. The only thing you should make sure to do is exfoliate your face to avoid ingrown hair.

Yes you can use it for your upper lips & forehead. But having said that, while doing upper lips, you have to be extra careful. Make sure that you hold your elipator in the correct direction and with ease. Also don’t let the epilator stay for longer in one place as this may cause bruise.

You will need a little practice but the key to harmless upper lip epilation is to move the epilator quickly in the correct direction.

The metal blades look the same as the first crossed out metal blades picture in this blog which is why I wouldn’t recommend this for your face.

The one you mentioned looks skin friendly. Go ahead with it. Just remember to get a lot of practise on your hands first before you start on your face.

This epilator will work for you. Although, as you mention you have a lot of under chin hair, it is going to pain a lot. I would recommend that you get your chin area waxed first and then use your epilator every 15 days or depending upon the growth rate. The main idea is to epilate your chin when the hair have not densed too much to pain.

Don’t forget to exfoliate your face once in a week to prevent ingrown hair.

Avoid using it on sensitive body areas specially if you are a first time user. Start with hands and legs and once you get the hang of it, you will know how it can be used on the whole body.
