Vidya Balan’s fashion statement has always reminded us of the evergreen Bollywood actress Rekha. The latter has often and let’s say almost always attended functions in Saree with open hair partitioned from middle. Sometimes they would be straight and sometimes the would be curly.
Similarly, Vidya Balan has also almost always seen in saree. She has same long hair like Rekha and lets them open partitioned from the middle. Apparently, that’s no coincidence. Vidya Balan’s fashion statement is inspired from Rekha herself and she openly speaks about it.
On speaking to the media she said,
“I loved her styling and I love to wear saris. I love kanjeevaram saris. The image that I have of true Indian women comes from Rekha and my mother. So if people say I am like Rekha, then I am thrilled.”
Upon asking about her fascination with saree, Vidya Balan promptly said that she feels very comfortable in saree. She can even sleep in a saree and live in a saree.
Further she said that saree is an Indian Traditional dress and she would rather wear her identity then adopt a secondary culture. She certainly has inspired a lot of other actresses to embrace their cultures and wear saree whenever an occasion calls for it.
